Meet The Teacher

The Reason for This Blog:

Hello and welcome! My name is Jessica Diaz, and I created this blog to share my teaching approaches with both experienced and inexperienced teachers.

Last year, I was on the job hunt of my life: finding a full time teaching position. With being told I had enough experience to not having enough, I called myself a green teacher because I am (and still is) simply "new" to the field- regardless of having years of experience working with children. That's why I created this blog... to share my journey with YOU.

I want to help aspiring teachers and even tenures! My blog consists of advice to help you become a teacher or perhaps just make your classroom more dynamic. I'm willing to share and collaborate with my readers, so that we can create the best education possible for our students, so welcome and thank you for reading!

More About Me:
I am a second year third grade teacher in the Chicago Suburbs.  I graduated from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. I received my B.A. in elementary education with additional endorsements in special education and middle school language arts and social science.

I have had 2 student teaching experiences per requirements of my university, one 5th grade and one 1st grade placement. After student teaching first grade, I found my love for the primary level.

My personal teaching philosophy consists of active learning, creating a structured and nurturing classroom environment, differentiation, and cooperative learning.
